I am in default on my car and my house; can I keep them if I file for Bankruptcy?

Most people can cure defaults on home mortgages and car loans and keep those assets. Each case is different so
professional advice is important.

Does bankruptcy cost a fortune?

Will I loose many of my assets?

Federal Bankruptcy Laws provides generous exemptions which can be used to protect a wide variety of valuable assets. All
cases are different, and not all assets are completely protected, but much can be protected.

How long does it take?

From the time information is provided to the time a Discharge is entered, it usually takes about 6 months in Chapter 7.
Chapter 13 takes longer, usually 36 months, but the benefits of chapter 13 are different and the requirements are different.

What debts are dischargeable?

Credit card Debt, medical and legal bills, utility bills and many other types of debt are dischargeable in full. Taxes and
Domestic support obligations are generally not dischargeable.
